Replacing SAP for a government entity’s new company

The short version

A UAE government entity ran on SAP and liked it, but when it set up a new subsidiary, SAP was far out of budget. The new company needed the same capability for less, and Zoho One won on price. I led the HR side end to end, from People to an internal hiring process in Recruit and Forms, and helped build a custom payroll engine in Creator. I also contributed to an e-procurement app that the team now uses every day.

The new company’s system
  1. New company
  2. SAP, like the parent
  3. Out of budget

The situation

The parent entity runs on SAP. They were happy with it, but it’s expensive. When they created a subsidiary, giving the new company its own SAP setup was out of the question on cost alone.

So the brief wasn’t to fix something broken. It was to give the new company what SAP gives the parent, at a price that made sense. Zoho One won.

What I built

I took charge of the entire HR process. I sat down with the Head of HR and with their SAP consultants, collected every function and report they relied on, and rebuilt all of it inside Zoho.

The result

Need enterprise features without the enterprise price?

Tell me what you rely on today, and I’ll tell you how it could work on Zoho.
